James B. Smith, MD, FACS raised in Colorado, graduated with honors from Notre Dome University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech School of Medicine and was a member of AOA, medical honor society. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Smith completed his internship and general surgery residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. After serving at various assignments here and abroad as an active duty Army surgeon, he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1998. He is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Bariatric Surgeons, and a member of other organizations including AMA, SAGES, and CMS. Dr. Smith is very experienced in advanced laparoscopy including laparoscopic colon surgery, hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, and obesity surgery. He is married and has 2 children.
